Living the responsibility.
Just finish watching this movie called Musa. Borrowed it for quite some time, I think it has been like 2 years. Sorry Derrick, now I can return you the show but I don't think will make any difference also.
In the movie, there is this scene where a child ran out and tried to hit the enemy soldier. Of course he ended up killed almost instantly. Then this thought flash before me. The fear of death. Apparently when we were young, the pain and death doesn't seems to matter very much. We don't know the meaning of death and so we basically live our lives like there is no tomorrow. But as time passes, we begin to learn about things like liability and commitment. So eventually when we grow up, the fear starts to surface and grow. Especially the case for married people, those with children and of course aging parents. Then I realised that I am afraid to die solely because when I am not around what will happen to my parents, spouse and children? Not like I am the sole breadwinner or anything but still we've been together for decades.
Once my friend said to me, 'Since you do not fear death, then why are you afraid of living?' Apparently living is a lot harder then dying, but as human we always like to choose the easier way out. Former PM Goh said during National Day rally, 'We don't want you to die for the country, we want you to live for the country.' So maybe we should stay alive and take responsibility for our country, family and of course for those people that cared.
